Medical Doctor (MBChB)

A General Practitioner (GP) is usually the first point of contact for patients. They diagnose illnesses, prescribe medication, perform basic procedures, and refer patients to specialists. Day-to-day: Consult patients (20–40 per day in busy clinics) Diagnose illnesses (flu, infections, chronic diseases) Prescribe treatment & medication Manage long-term conditions (diabetes, hypertension) Where you work: Hospitals, private practices, clinics, telehealth Demand in SA: VERY HIGH (especially public sector & rural areas)
